At a 49th birthday party she planned herself—including designing the RSVP’s sent to her– actress Katie Holmes surprised husband Tom Cruise when he walked in on his three children and 40 of the couples close friends all in Miami for the affair. Holmes worked directly with the staff of the SoHo Beach House because she told them she wanted to “make sure everything was just right.”
The affair was held in the club’s rooftop restaurant overlooking jet-setting South Beach. Cruise and his family are in Miami where he is filming the screen adaptation of the hit musical “Rock of Ages.”
The 49-year-old Cruise smiled broadly at the gathering of so many friends who came to celebrate his birthday. His high spirits were matched by his buff appearance. Cruise has been in training for his current role as a younger rock star.
Holmes, meanwhile, has been widely photographed recently at Miami beaches sporting a trimmer bikini body of her own, and drawing rave reviews from star gazers as she romped in the surf with the couple’s 5-year-old daughter Suri.
Joining Suri in the celebrations were siblings Connor Cruise, 16 and Isabella, 18, children from Cruise’s previous marriage to actress Nicole Kidman.
